The DTC is not just for physical disabilities. The eligibility criteria also apply to mental functions necessary for everyday life, such as adaptive functioning, memory, and problem-solving. It's important for the medical practitioner to detail how the impairment restricts these functions. Similarly, if your condition requires life-sustaining therapy (like insulin therapy for Type 1 diabetes or dialysis), you may be eligible, as long as the therapy requires an average of 14 hours per week and is needed at least twice a week.
