For taxpayers, a key improvement is the ability to track their file status in real-time. The Progress Tracker in My Account and My Business Account offers transparency into the work being done.

What the Progress Tracker Covers:

The tracker provides status updates and target completion dates for several key files, including:

  • T1 tax returns.

  • T1 tax adjustment requests.

  • Canada child benefit applications.

  • Disability tax credit applications.

  • Requests for relief of penalties and interest.

  • Objections.

How to Use It:

Files that are actively in progress or have been completed within the past 30 days will appear on the Overview page. The target completion date shown is based on the CRA's published service standards, providing an accurate expectation for when the file is expected to be finalized.

By using the Progress Tracker, taxpayers can move away from calling simply to ask, "Is it done yet?" and gain confidence that their submissions are being addressed according to the agency's stated commitments. This digital shift is central to the CRA’s plan to restore public trust in its service delivery.
