One of the most persistent and frustrating service delays involves T1 tax adjustments—when a taxpayer requests a change to a previously filed return. Delays here can affect benefits, refunds, and overall financial stability.

  • The Problem: Backlogs for tax adjustments mean Canadians are waiting too long for resolution and may have to call repeatedly to check the status of their request.

  • The Solution: As part of the 100-Day plan, the CRA committed to implementing a specific plan to reduce the backlog for tax adjustments. While the specific implementation details are internal, the focus is on a strategic allocation of resources and leveraging the technology discussed in Post 6 to clear the queue and establish more timely service standards.

  • How to Track: Taxpayers who have requested an adjustment (using the Change my return feature in My Account or ReFILE) are encouraged to use the Progress Tracker to monitor their request status, reducing the need to call and ask for an update.
