You might think that if you earned little to no income in a year, you don't need to bother with a tax return. But that’s a common misconception that could be costing you money! Even with a low income, filing a return is a crucial step for several reasons.

The Golden Ticket to Benefits! The main reason to file is to unlock valuable government benefits and credits. Programs like the GST/HST Credit and the Canada Child Benefit are paid out to eligible individuals and families, regardless of whether they have a tax bill. The CRA uses the information from your tax return to determine if you qualify and how much you should receive. If you don't file, you could miss out on these payments entirely!

Don't let a "no income" year become a "no benefits" year. A simple tax return can ensure you get the financial support you're entitled to.
