Once you have an approved T2201 form on file with the CRA, you are ready to claim the DTC. This is done on your annual income tax and benefit return. The disability amount for yourself is claimed on Line 31600 of your return. This amount is a non-refundable tax credit, meaning it reduces the amount of tax you owe. If you have a dependent who is eligible for the DTC but doesn't need to use the full amount, you may be able to transfer the unused portion to your tax return.
