"Click Here!" Why You Should Be Wary of Suspicious CRA Links

In today's digital world, many scams arrive right in our inboxes or as text messages. Impersonators often send fake CRA messages hoping you'll click on a link that could compromise your information or money.
The Danger of Suspicious Links: Scammers create fake websites that look very real. If you click a link in a suspicious email or text, you might be taken to one of these sites, where they'll try to get you to enter your banking details, SIN, or other private information. Once they have it, they can use it for identity theft or to access your accounts.
What the CRA Won't Do: The CRA generally won't send you emails or text messages with links asking for personal or financial information. They mostly communicate through your CRA My Account, mail, or sometimes by phone for specific issues.
Always Verify: If you receive a message that seems like it's from the CRA and asks you to click a link, don't click it. Instead, go directly to the official CRA website (canada.ca/cra) or log into your My Account to check for any messages or notifications. It's the safest way to verify.
